I was going to write a journal but now I have to figure out this new layout DA came up with...and how to save defaults.
Apologies to all the people whose art I usually comment on...I've been super busy and it never seems to quit...actually, I say that a lot but its true and the journal would just have been a long list of it...
Hope summer is treating folks well.
Edit: 5 seconds later...o.k., I'm gonna vent. But first I will say one good thing: This version of DA is faster. Thank God. Overall the layout looks sleeker too.
Now onto the bitching:
-I don't like the mixed up order of the artists and the default of only 5 images
running across the top- I subscribed mostly because I could get multiple thumbnail images to view. I DON'T like having to manually change this- hopefully I can permanently get it customized to my liking. Like having oldest to newest not visa versa. 
-I never liked the order of the messages in the 'Deviant Watch' list: 'Deviations', 'Journals', 'News', and 'Polls' is how the list goes on the left while the 'Feedback' list goes: 'Comments', 'Replies', and 'Activity Messages'. I would rather see the 'Feedback' list come first.
- And why can't things like 'Profile', 'Gallery', 'Prints', 'Faves', and 'Journal' be in that same column?! That really bugs me.
-The worst thing is all the stuff that would normally appear on the main sites home page is now at the bottom of my message center. That pisses me off. I just went to the main DA page and it looks homely now- they lost something there...

Unbelievably, I have to say this: do NOT take Stocks or Patterns to put on your websites without asking. I will treat people who do that like common thieves. Ask me first about redistribution off of Deviant Art.
I have no problem allowing people to use my resources for nothing more than a proper crediting.
Alongside that notion is the assumption that you are an artist or a digital entrepreneur- that means I don't mind if you want to make prints using my stuff. Again I will say: I expect a credit and I need to be informed that you are using my resources to actually read the credit.
The only reasons for saying 'no' to a print request:
1. You have used my resources in the past and have not credited properly.
2. You are not a seriously productive artist who post work on this site and you do not understand how to properly credit. A link to my page or the resource used must include the name or avatar. [link] <-- that is not acceptable. I look at peoples galleries to see if they understand the concept of proper crediting.

Some times what DA thinks is great art is not my cup o' caffeine. Here is one persons view who has an appreciation for the odd and the elegant...I came upon more interesting art and artists thru oibyrd [link] than thru the Daily Devs...she hands our her own awards and runs lots of contests and is an awesome asset to the artists of DA! A word of caution for the faint of art: This page supports nudity! (. Y.)

I think a lot of it is designed to force awareness of the main site on the users- not a bad thing from their point of view and certainly understandable- but I'm glad they had the decency to keep most of that at the bottom of the page!
