Little devil...this is one of (now) about 3 black squirrels that are almost tame who like to rumage around the base of the bird feeder. At least I got clever enough to devise a feeder that they can't get into...normally I would chase them away but seeing as they are getting the left overs I will let them stick around.

This particular one (all 3 are named Arty actually) was climbing up the 'snowball' tree in front of some wild kind of blue bell.

Edit: it is much later and I am no longer charmed by these thieves. :P

So cute! And to add to the black squirrel discussion. When I was little I remember going to a park and they had black squirrels "everywhere".

If only I could remember which park it was...for some reason I'm thinking it was actually located in Trinidad and Tobago. O_o

I remember seeing them in Burnaby and Vancouver about 10 years ago but now they seem to be everywhere. Have you been to Trinidada and Tobago or is this your imagitive mind at work? Maybe they come from there!

Hahaha. I missed this comment.

But yeah, I've been to Trinidad at least three times.

The park incident would have been when I was probably three or something..if it happened at all. :P

No worries! What's Trinidad like? Sounds warm!
"...if it happened at all." That comment reminds me the black bears I used to see in the back pasture when I was a child- which must have been a dream!

Thanks! I hate to say it but I'm getting fond of the little rodents. :P
We have gray and reddish too but these black ones just seemed to have got common in the last decade- I don't remember seeing them here as a child.
